Responsibilities
As a Technology Underwriter youll be responsible for the management and growth of an assigned book of business as well as the acquisition of new business with a focus on Technology Middle Market insurance customers. We will rely on you to analyze customers business information and claims history monitor clients activities to change the policies as risks evolve. Youll evaluate acceptability of individual risks and determine overall acceptability of risk coverage terms and pricing to achieve company profit objectives. Youll work with agents/brokers to develop productive and profitable relationships while also ensuring compliance with company underwriting guidelines and insurance regulators.
- Responsible for profitable results via risk selection maintaining high premium retention ratios and applying appropriate rating and coverage terms
- Account manager for assigned book of business
- Handle new and renewal submissions and endorsement requests from agents/ producers
- Document underwriting files to support analysis coverage terms and pricing
- Operate according to underwriting authority as delegated by manager
- Provides clear instruction and guidance to underwriting support staff and operations staff
- Desire to develop sales and marketing skills and strategies in order to meet financial goals
- Follow established pricing underwriting and documentation protocol as set forth by underwriting management
- Mentor & coach underwriting support staff
May perform other functions as assigned
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience working in a commercial underwriting or commercial underwriting support position
- Familiarity with commercial lines underwriting standards and practices along with rating/pricing methods
- Ability to learn interpreting coverage forms
- Ability and desire to sell and/or market insurance products & services
- Desire to strengthen negotiation skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Presentation skills
- Excellent PC skills and a working knowledge of Windows environment a valid drivers license and carry vehicle insurance coverage.
Education
Four-year college degree or equivalent experience

Base Salary Range: $75k - $137k

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the scope complexity and location of the role; the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
