Job Summary

Drive a Positive Safety Culture Across Council Operations

Are you passionate about building a strong safety culture and making a real impact on workplace health and wellbeing Were looking for an experienced WH&S Advisor to join our team and lead the development implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety practices across all Council operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a WH&S professional with civil works and operational site experience who thrives in a dynamic community-focused organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist WH&S advice and implement practical solutions tailored to operational needs.
  • Deliver employee WH&S training and inductions particularly in high-risk or civil work environments.
  • Conduct timely WH&S audits site inspections risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Promote staff engagement in WH&S through effective communication and behaviour-based safety practices.
  • Assist with the development of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and WH&S documentation.
  • Lead and report on WH&S incident investigations treatment plans and corrective actions.
  • Ensure Council maintains a compliant and effective Safety Management System.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance and risk mitigation.

    What you will bring:

    • A relevant Workplace Health and Safety qualification.
    • Minimum 5 years experience in WH&S with strong operational knowledge of civil worksites and field-based risk management.
    • Proven ability to develop and implement safe systems of work in a practical and sustainable way.
    • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
    • High attention to detail excellent communication and a proactive solution-oriented mindset.
    • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
