What Youll Do

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Serving as primary support team member for the Operations Manager and Shift Manager to ensure daily operations are safe effective and performed in accordance with approved procedures and work control packages
  • Interfacing with support organizations to understand planned operations within the facility and ensure activities will not negatively impact other authorized work within the Complex
  • Performing troubleshooting and improvement activities for emerging issues within the operations management scope of responsibility to resolve issues and improve effectiveness in implementation of compliance requirements
  • Serving in a project management role as needed for coordination of large cross-cutting activities within the facility that involve multiple interfaces that cross organizational lines
  • Presenting technical briefings or presentations as required that describe and explain approved facility operations and compliance implementation methods
  • Assisting with the advancement of a graded approach for configuration management controls within the Development Complex
  • Assisting with the review and approval of chemical orders; Hazardous Material Identification Document updates; Safety Basis Materials of Concern receipts and shipments; quarterly Hazardous Materials Information System inventories; and Emergency Management documents for the Complex
  • Assisting the Environmental Officer Waste Management Engineer and the Development Operations Team with evaluating determining and implementing a disposition path for excess chemicals within the Development Complex

Accountabilities:

  • To the Operations Manager for evaluation and oversight of facility activities to ensure they are within the approved procedures and work control packages
  • To the facility personnel for monitoring of facility conditions to ensure safe compliant and effective operations

Authorities:

  • Authorized to represent operations in evaluation of proposed facility modifications or changes in planned activities
  • Authorized to represent operations in meetings to evaluate and identify implementation strategies for compliance requirements or changes to existing requirements

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Physical Science Chemistry Physics or related from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico the Washington Accord or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET AND 2 years of relevant experience. OR MS in Engineering /Physical science and 1 years of relevant experience. OR PhD in Engineering /Physical science.
  • There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Beyond four years from graduation engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire.
    • 3.0/4.0 minimum cumulative GPA for Bachelor degree
    • 3.3 minimum cumulative GPA for Master degree
    • 3.5 minimum cumulative GPA for PhD

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Typical engineering/science experience ranging from 3 to 7 years.
  • Requires broad knowledge of plant facilities and operations and a demonstrated understanding of operations principles and concepts

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712) which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
