Job Description

The Opportunity: 

Mattel is hiring a National Account Sales Manager.  Join the largest toy company in the world to drive growth selling the most iconic toy brands to top retailers in the US.   

The National Account Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and executing our Strategic Account Plans for the Drug and Grocery channel.  The role will require a deep understanding of the retail environment and how to align our portfolio of products with the account needs.

This position will be field-based or located at one of our sales offices around the country.  The position will require periodic travel to the account and corporate headquarters. 

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Achieve targeted sales objectives for various Drug and Grocery channel accounts consistent with the annual business plan by leveraging data consumer and shopper insights
  • Identify business opportunities with the account and work with internal partners to create customized plans to drive results
  • Conduct weekly buyer meetings and periodic business reviews to refine inventory forecasts and promotional planning
  • Manage a broker network to align on Mattel and customer goals
  • Gain share across accounts by leveraging data insights
  • Design and develop big ideas to drive business volume
  • Conduct internal discussions with Forecasting Customer Service Marketing and Retail Marketing teams to ensure strong retail execution
  • Create monthly forecasts and promotional plans managing to inventory targets and a spend budget
  • Attend toy shows & previews and be knowledgeable of brands and product lines
  • Build relationships with the accounts buyers planners and marketers internal Mattel personnel and Licensor partners
  • Periodically lead team-based projects for the Growth Channel Team

Qualifications :

What Were Looking For:

  • Relationship-builder: Ability to build positive and strong long-term relationships with the account and exert influence
  • Poise: Effective selling & communication skills with confidence will be key to success

  • Organized: Ability to sort out distractions which might inhibit achievement of objectives and prioritize based on strategic direction
  • Minimum 7-8 years related experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods toys entertainment or mass-market retailer. Experience in Consumer Goods is imperative as is either Key Account Management or related function (forecasting and planning category management promotional planning etc).
  • Bachelors degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Toy Industry or Drug and Grocery Industry
  • Key Account Management experience
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning embracing challenges and improving themselves.
