Job Description

New York University (NYU) Berlin is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach a course in finance called Foundations and Applications of FinTech in Germany for the spring 2026 semester. The course is co-sponsored by the Stern School of Business.

Berlin as a leading FinTech hub in Europe provides a dynamic environment for understanding core financial functions by focusing on how startups incubators and venture capital are shaping the future of financial services. The course will connect global FinTech trends with the local German market examining the influence of startups and addressing regulatory and privacy challenges on innovation. Well also explore the growing role of AI in finance with insights from guest speakers working at the forefront of the industry. Students will attend a fintech conference participate in conversation formats to gain cutting-edge insights and take an overnight trip to Frankfurt am Main to visit institutions at the heart of European finance.

Candidates should be passionate about teaching have a track record of academic publications in a related field and be fluent in English. As the course is open to students from any major with or without prior studies in this field the course content and pedagogy should ensure accessibility for a variety of students.

The course is taught in English and runs approximately from January 19 to May 8 2026. The course meets once or twice every week for a total of three hours per week on NYU Berlins campus. The sessions are a mixture of lecture discussions and site visits as well as an overnight trip to Frankfurt am Main.

The program size is 120 students in Fall and Spring semesters as well as various January Term and Summer Schools.
