Learning and Development Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities

• Knowledge of training processes such as adult learning theories and instructional design principles.
• Effective facilitation skills such as ability to facilitate open discussion in a less structured environment.
• Adapt delivery methods based on the audience training objectives and feedback to maximize training effectiveness.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based collaborative environment.
• Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify knowledge and skills gaps for each class.
• Ability to analyze effectiveness of training and to independently implement with guidance from the training supervisor appropriate solutions without compromising instructional design and adult learning theory.
• Document that status of learners and their progress during training by maintaining and keeping class training trackers up to date.
• Ability to coordinate across state tasks and to interact with employees in all areas of the project.
• Ability to coach others and provide performance feedback and maintain a safe and professional learning environment.
• Travel within the State of Indiana

Preferred Qualifications Skills and Requirements

• Experience working in IEDSS.
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent years of experience as a facilitator.
• Experience in facilitation/trainer role with HS diploma or GED and 2 plus years experience with Indiana Eligibility Public Assistance Programs.
• Coaching mentoring or training experience.
• Strong oral communication and group presentation skills.
• Clear and professional written communication skills.
• Knowledge of the Indiana Public Assistance Programs (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Medicaid and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) policy and guidelines including IEDSS online help.
• Must live in Indiana
