Job Description

Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) a Member of The Texas A&M University System invites applications for a highly energetic Lecturer in Animal Science. This position is a Non Tenure-Track nine-month appointment with 100% teaching responsibilities (15 credit hours each in the Spring and Fall semesters). The successful candidate will be expected to teach predominately freshman- and sophomore-level animal science courses and laboratories including yet not limited to Introduction to Animal Science Livestock Management Techniques Preparation for Animal Ag etc. and coordinate departmental recruiting and retention efforts. Potential opportunities for intercollegiate judging programs exist. A competitive negotiable salary and benefit package will be offered that will be commensurate with the candidates level of expertise. Availability for employment by spring 2026 semester is expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have earned a M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Animal Science from an accredited university. Evidence of successful teaching livestock handling experience and/or experience in livestock production management. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Other requirements include a commitment to high standards of academic professionalism and a positive attitude for teamwork.

The Department

The ASVT at TAMUK is an integral part of the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture and Natural addition to awarding Bachelor of Science degrees in Animal Science with degree emphases in General Animal Science or Pre-Veterinary Animal Science or Veterinary Technology a Master of Science degree program in Animal Science is offered in the ASVT department. The Department of ASVT is the largest academic department on the picturesque campus of Texas A&M University-Kingsville with 15 faculty and approximately 25 graduate and 500 undergraduate students. It is home to the only Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology program in Texas and the renowned King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management. The 250-acre Texas A&M University-Kingsville Farm houses beef cows meat goats and hair- and wool-sheep operations and provides students with hands-on training in basic food animal production management and techniques.
