The DAngelo Law Library at the University of Chicago seeks a collaborative innovative and technologically savvy professional for the position of Scholarly Services Librarian to engage with and further the prolific scholarly endeavors of the University of Chicago Law School collaboration with DAngelo Law Library and Law School colleagues the Scholarly Services Librarian creates and implements a forward-thinking program to support the University of Chicago Law Schools scholarly outputs. The Scholarly Services Librarian develops and delivers DAngelos scholarly services for the University of Chicago Law Schools faculty and students including communication about trends and best practices in legal academic publishing generating reports of scholarly impact for Law School stakeholders providing guidance and assistance with scholarly profiles and staying abreast on the opportunities and challenges presented by technological innovations. The Scholarly Services Librarian coordinates the design delivery and assessment of DAngelos support for scholarship published in the Law Schools student-edited and faculty-edited journals and by the Law Schools research and academic centers. The Scholarly Services Librarian also creates and implements a program for Law School students engaging in academic research including joint degree students and students enrolled in the J.S.D. program.
To effectively provide these services the Scholarly Services Librarian will develop and maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends in legal academic scholarship and publishing including interdisciplinary and empirical research. The Scholarly Services Librarian participates in campus local and national discussions on scholarly publishing and research methodologies including with colleagues in the Universitys Center for Digital Scholarship the Law Schools academic and research centers and academic and law library professional communities.
As a member of the DAngelo reference team the Scholarly Services Librarian provides in-person and virtual reference assistance during scheduled shifts (including weekend virtual reference shifts on rotation). As part of the DAngelo Law Library User Services department the Scholarly Services Librarian provides high-level research and learning services to the Law School and University communities. Such services include training student researcher assistants and other researchers creating and maintaining guides and developing other resources for library users. Depending on the interests and experience of the individual other duties may be assigned.
The DAngelo Law Library contributes to the academic and scholarly success of the University of Chicago and Law School communities by providing rich collections and resources maintaining a premier scholarly environment and delivering superior library services. DAngelos collections are among the worlds finest for law research and enable comprehensive access to legal scholarship and interdisciplinary resources. DAngelo occupies five floors in the central tower of the Law Schools Laird Bell Quadrangle and is a valued partner in the Law Schools community of scholarship teaching and learning. The DAngelo Law Library is part of the University of Chicago Library system working cooperatively with other campus libraries to ensure rapid access to print and digital collections research and study spaces and expansive services.
