Winter 2025 Transportation Planning Intern

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Transportation Planning Intern to join our Transportation team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team learn and contribute to meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months and can work full-time.

In this role you will work with senior and junior designers to assist in completing various projects. The projects include public transit pedestrian and bicycle facilities roadway bridge projects and other large private and public structures. Must have a strong interest in transportation engineering and infrastructure design.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with data collection and analysis including field traffic counts and Big Data resources.

• Perform roadway intersection and corridor capacity analyses using software and established methodologies (HCM Highway Capacity Software etc.).

• Support file management of project electronic documents including printing and scanning as required.

• Gain practical experience and broad exposure to STVs organizational structure through diverse assignments.

• Utilize company-wide and department-specific software to complete various tasks.

• Engage in specific activities tailored to your assignments contributing to project success.

Required:

• Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in Civil or Structural engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework or experience in transportation engineering traffic operations or data analytics.

• Experience in the architecture/engineering/construction management industry.
