Job Summary

The Retreat by Sheppard Pratt provides expert psychiatric care and residential mental health services in a serene supportive setting. Our highly personalized treatment program allows patients to make meaningful progress toward recovery under the guidance of experienced doctors and specialized clinicians. The Retreat treats individuals with complex psychiatric and co-occurring disorders offering evidence-based mind and body therapies in an intensive individualized approach. Residents benefit from a combination of diagnostic evaluation individualized treatment plans individual therapy and up to 35 hours of group programming per week including CBT DBT psychodynamic therapy and experiential therapies such as yoga art rock climbing and equine-assisted therapy. Continuing care is available for patients in our group homes or those remaining in the Baltimore area.

What to Expect:
The Psychiatristis an integral part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality psychiatric care to residents in both the residential program and affiliated group homes. This role involves direct patient care including psychiatric evaluations medication management and individualized treatment planning as well as consultation with the broader clinical team. The psychiatrist may also lead therapy groups provide outpatient consultations for private-pay patients and collaborate with staff to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and program protocols. This position requires strong clinical judgment collaborative skills and the ability to provide patient-centered care in a supportive recovery-focused environment.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations diagnostic assessments and ongoing medication management.

  • Develop and coordinate individualized multidisciplinary treatment plans for residential and group home patients.

  • Lead therapy groups and provide individual therapy as appropriate.

  • Provide consultation to clinicians and staff regarding complex patient care needs.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with medical and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless coordinated care.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program development.

  • Mentor junior staff and trainees supporting professional growth and skill development.

What we need from you:

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry and active Maryland medical license.
  • Completion of a psychiatry residency program.
  • Minimum two years of experience in acute psychiatric settings including completion of a training program and practical experience.
  • Possession of Maryland Controlled Substances Registration and valid DEA Certificate.
  • Experience working with patients in acute behavioral care or residential treatment settings.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team ensuring continuous reliable patient-centered care.
  • Strong therapeutic communication skills with patients families and colleagues adapted to individual needs.

The base pay range for this position is $240000 minimum to $285000 maximum.âPay for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to board certifications and years and level of related experience.
