General Summary of the Position: The Bilingual Classroom Teacher plans guides and evaluates the learning process of students while providing safe supervision throughout the day. This position reports to the principal and has decision-making responsibilities within the framework of school policies philosophy organization and curriculum.
Duties & Responsibilities
Catholic Education: Support the philosophy and mission of Catholic education by modeling Gospel values and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Train students in Catholic prayer and active participation in the faith. Engage in ongoing spiritual growth through participation in religious ceremonies training and reflection activities.
Instruction: Develop and submit lesson plans two weeks in advance using backward planning aligned with campus objectives and the rigor of the summative assessment. A clear gradual release will be evident in both lesson plans and instruction as well as aligned questions and engagement techniques. Ensure students are engaged in rigorous standards-based learning at all times using appropriate materials. Use baseline formative and summative assessment data to drive and adjust instruction.
Professionalism: Arrive on time and stay on schedule. Maintain accurate timely records including entering grades within two days of assignment submission. Manage the classroom with consistent positive discipline aligned with the campus policy. Communicate regularly with parents about academic behavioral and safety concerns through various channels with an emphasis on face-to-face and phone communication. Respond to communication from parents and administration in a timely manner. Be accessible to students parents and staff. Follow all school and diocesan policies and perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
Required Skills & Traits
Bachelors degree from an accredited American University or the equivalent
Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish
Evidence of successful experience and desire to work with children
Reliable: Arrives to work on time and has a history of great attendance
Devoted practicing Catholic in good standing perferred
Strong planner and schedule-follower
Proficient with educational technology (email Google drive apps Smart Board)
Team player
Teaches with urgency but not with anxiety/stress
Great communicator
Accepts feedback positively and makes adjustments accordingly
Able to multi-task
Adapts to change easily
Able to complete religion certification per the guidelines of the Catholic Schools Office
