What You Will Do
Employee at this level perform routine management duties in a food service unit or department. He/she will work under administrative supervision from a designated administrator (the Chef or Administrator III).
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:Coursework in business dietetics culinary arts food science nutrition hospitality hotel catering restaurant or institutional management or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
--30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
--Associates Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
--90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
--Bachelors Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
Food service supervisory work experience.
Supervisory Ability
Ability to pass food handlers exam/certification course
Strong customer service skills
Must possess basic math skills

Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days is grounds for immediate separation.

For more information on Civil Service classifications please visit the State Universities Civil Service System website at: who qualify for preference must provide proof of eligibility within ten (10) working days of submitting an application. The required proof of eligibility includes at a minimum a copy of the veterans DD214/DD215 form (Department of Defense) NGB22 form (National Guard) or Discharge Orders or DD256 Discharge Certificate (Reserves).
