This Phlebotomist position requires collecting blood samples from patients in a fast-paced Emergency Room setting. The role involves various venipuncture techniques point-of-care testing and adherence to strict aseptic techniques. Prioritization of sample collection based on urgency is crucial. One year of experience is required.
Location: Rochester New York United States
Responsibilities:
- Collect blood samples using various venipuncture techniques (e.g. vacutainer tubes finger sticks).
- Process and label blood samples according to established protocols.
- Perform point-of-care testing as needed.
- Prioritize patient collections based on order requests (stat timed routine).
- Maintain accurate records of collected samples and test results.
- Adhere to strict aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
- Handle and dispose of biohazardous materials safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
- Patient positioning and preparation for blood draws.
- ABG collection.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- Proficiency in various venipuncture techniques (e.g. vacutainer tubes finger sticks).
- Knowledge of different blood collection tubes (e.g. red top light blue top green top purple top).
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current certification as a Phlebotomist (if applicable).
- One year of experience in phlebotomy.
- Active BLS certification (if applicable).

Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in an emergency room or hospital setting.
- Experience with ABG collection.
- Knowledge of point-of-care testing.

Special Considerations:
- Weekend work is required (Friday and Saturday).
- Shift times are 7 AM to 11 AM and 11 AM to 7 PM.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Minimal return-to-office (RTO) restrictions.

Scheduling:
- Friday and Saturday shifts.
- Day and evening shifts (7 AM - 11 AM and 11 AM - 7 PM).
