The Role
We are looking for a highly capable and globally minded Data Scientist - Procurement Spendsto join our Strategic Sourcing team. This role will play a key part in supporting the Global Strategic Sourcing function across the US EMEA and APJ by creating driving and executing a variety of category-focused projects and initiatives.
The ideal candidate is experienced detail-oriented and proactivesomeone who can independently analyze procurement data provide strategic insights and identify sourcing and savings opportunities with minimal addition to supporting ad hoc and recurring reporting needs this role will leverage advanced data science and machine learning capabilities to help drive global process consistency benchmarking compliance and sourcing innovation.
WHAT YOULL DO
- Support the Global Strategic Sourcing team by delivering clear actionable spend insights across regions and categories.
- Consolidate and critically evaluate data from multiple sources including spend contract supplier and savings data.
- Perform detailed benchmarking against industry best practices KPIs and competitive performance metrics.
- Conduct advanced data analysis and statistical modeling to identify patterns predict supplier performance and highlight savings opportunities.
- Design and implement machine learning models (supervised/unsupervised deep learning NLP) to extract insights from structured and unstructured procurement data.
- Build and customize machine learning libraries and tools to enhance procurement analytics capabilities.
- Identify savings supplier consolidation and negotiation opportunities and proactively surface them to sourcing managers.
- Partner with global stakeholders and sourcing leads to define focus areas and create high-quality analytical outputs that support strategic decision-making.
- Build and maintain dashboards data models and reporting tools to support procurement visibility and performance tracking.
- Drive or support global process improvement initiatives including compliance reporting automation policy development and sourcing platform implementation.
- Establish and refine processes and documentation to ensure global consistency and scalable operations.
- Assist with or lead sourcing-related projects and initiatives aligned with category strategies and procurement transformation goals.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Finance Supply Chain Analytics Data Science Statistics or related field.
- 7 years of experience in procurement analytics data science or strategic sourcing with a focus on global or regional spend management.
- Strong data analytics skills with expertise in Excel statistical modeling and advanced analysis.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for data manipulation modeling and automation.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning models (supervised unsupervised deep learning NLP).
- Experience with ERP/P2P systems (e.g. SAP NetSuite Oracle Coupa) and BI/reporting tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI Looker).
- Excellent cross-functional communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience collaborating across geographies.
- Proven ability to independently manage workload prioritize tasks and deliver on tight timelines.
- A strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into strategy.
- Curiosity and initiativeconstantly looking for better ways to inform sourcing decisions.
- A collaborative approach and ability to partner with stakeholders across business units and time zones.
- A passion for elevating procurements impact through advanced analytics ML and AI-driven insights.
- Drive to innovate and continuously improve procurement processes and outcomes globally.
Preferred:
- Project management skills and familiarity with methodologies such as Six Sigma PMI Agile or similar.
- Experience building ML libraries or frameworks from scratch.
- Experience with automation or AI tools (e.g. RPA Alteryx) to streamline reporting or analysis.
- Prior involvement in benchmarking supplier performance evaluation or procurement transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with sourcing policy formation contract compliance or procurement governance.
