KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to either the Superintendent of Roads & Sidewalks or Water & Sewer the Public Works Administrative Assistant performs a full range of routine administrative clerical data entry and retrieval duties along with public relations and other related services to the Works Division. The incumbent provides the first level of response to public inquiries and complaints pertaining to operations. Additionally the position provides dispatch services for the Public Works crews when necessary processes and records permits and liaises with City Hall staff with respect to pertinent issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a certificate in administration or equivalent along with a minimum of two years related experience in administrative positions. A valid class 5 drivers license is required.
The incumbent must be proficient in MS Office suite including software such as MS Excel PowerPoint and Word. Tact and diplomacy are required when dealing with the public and staff. The incumbent must possess the ability to work independently. The position may be required to occasionally work overtime on weekends.
SALARY
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $70355.19 per annum along with a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances and a defined benefit pension plan.
