Job Description
The Department of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina is actively seeking a Pediatric Surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Applicants should be board certified or board eligible and in their first 10 years of practice. Applicants must be competent in minimally invasive surgical techniques in children pediatric general surgery pediatric trauma evaluation resuscitation and management pediatric central venous access and pediatric ECMO addition to clinical care the Faculty position includes education of medical students and residents and clinical or outcomes research. Primary clinical responsibilities will include the full spectrum of pediatric surgical cases inpatient rounding and consultations and call coverage including urgent and emergent surgical cases as well as local outpatient and satellite clinic coverage.

(Infrequent) Ability to lift objects up to 15 lbs. from floor level to height of 36 inches unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lower objects up to 15 lbs. from height of 36 inches to floor level unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to push/pull objects up to 15 lbs. unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Frequent) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Frequent) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction.
