Duties include:

• Monitor scanners social media and incoming tips to identify breaking news and developing stories.
• Coordinate coverage by assigning reporters photographers and crews to stories in real time.
• Serve as a communication hub for the newsroom ensuring smooth information flow and accuracy.
• Develop strong relationships with local law enforcement emergency officials and community sources.
• Write edit and publish timely accurate and engaging content to our website app and social media platforms.
• Optimize stories with SEO best practices and compelling visuals.
• Engage with our audience online to grow and strengthen Louisiana First News digital presence.
• Craft breaking news alerts and push notifications to keep our viewers informed instantly.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Minimum two years experience in news operations
• Proficiency with computers telephones copiers scanners fax machines and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Flexibility to work any shift

Successful Candidates:

• Demonstrate ability to identify potential stories research information follow-up on ongoing stories.
• Have strong news judgment organization skills and ability to communicate with the public and newsroom staff.
• Needs strong journalistic writing skills and understanding of AP style.
• Multi-task well and prioritize under deadline.
