As a Senior Software Engineer you will design engineer and run our capabilities for the Network Automation and Orchestration Tools stack for network and perimeter products and platforms that enable highly distributed global business for site fleet asset and IoT connectivity required to deliver against our strategy. The Brief

A globally focused shipping and transportation organisation is continuing to drive an ambitious and complex change and transformational programme to deliver a service of excellence for its customers and clients worldwide. The Global CTIO has a mandate from the Maersk board to lead the Technology transformation of Maersk which will enable the Maersk business strategy to become the global integrator of container logistics through digitising the Maersk business processes and customer engagement.

The Network OSS Engineering function is essential to our transformation it is a central team within Network Architecture & Engineering responsible for the delivery of product roadmaps technical vision and quality across Fulfilment and Assurance that underpin our network and perimeter capabilities and products.

Reporting to the Senior OSS Engineering Manager you will serve as a Senior Software Engineer ensuring that our systems and tools for the network OSS realise business value. Your role is responsible for technical design and delivery of solutions across the network OSS applications landscape from Planning to analytics driven AIOps. All built to industry leading standards and running seamlessly across various cloud and on-prem platforms allowing frictionless and seamless operations of our network and perimeter platforms.

Scope

The Network OSS team at Maersk is responsible for enabling automating and enhancing the management of data networks across Core Edge and Cloud locations (offices warehouses terminals vessels data centres cloud environments etc). Our scope includes orchestration observability assurance and the development of network management platforms and tools to ensure end-to-end service reliability and operational efficiency.

Key areas include but are not limited to:

• Automation & Orchestration: Design and implementation of workflows and systems to automate provisioning configuration monitoring and assurance of network services.
• Tooling & Platform Development: Building scalable internal tools for network inventory monitoring telemetry collection event correlation and intent-based management.
• Assurance & Monitoring: End-to-end visibility and health monitoring of WAN LAN and wireless networks with integrated alerting and analytics capabilities.
• Inventory Management: Development and maintenance of a real-time unified network inventory to support lifecycle and incident management.
• Integration & Observability: Ingesting processing and enriching telemetry syslogs traps and alarms from:
  • Wireless Transport: Satellite 4G/LTE 5G
  • IoT Networking: Industrial Wi-Fi
  • WAN: Internet IP/MPLS Next-Gen/SD WAN
  • LAN: DC Networking SDN Fixed & Wireless
  • Perimeter: Load balancers NG Firewalls Security Service Edge

Specific Job Requirements

We are seeking a Software Engineer with a product mindset and enthusiasm for building scalable and resilient network automation tools. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to grow in backend development automation and infrastructure systems.

You will work as part of a cross-functional team to develop tools and services that support network automation assurance and orchestration across Core Edge and Cloud platforms.

You will:

• Collaborate with senior engineers product owners and network SMEs to develop internal tools and automation solutions.
• Contribute to the design and development of backend services using Python and modern web frameworks like FastAPI Flask or Django.
• Build and integrate APIs for telemetry topology and configuration management services.
• Assist in building microservices-based applications that are modular scalable and reliable.
• Write and maintain unit tests using PyTest or unittest to ensure code quality and robustness.
• Support containerization and deployment of services using Docker and CI/CD pipelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Python with solid understanding of object-oriented programming and data structures.
• Experience with REST APIs and backend frameworks such as FastAPI Flask or Django.
• Understanding of databases including experience with relational systems like PostgreSQL MySQL or SQLite.
• Familiarity with ORM tools such as SQLAlchemy or Django ORM.
• Basic DevOps knowledge including GitHub workflows CI/CD pipelines and Docker containerization.
• Test-driven development mindset with exposure to PyTest or similar frameworks.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities in a team-oriented environment.

• Exposure to microservices architecture and performance optimization techniques.
• Experience working on network automation or infrastructure tools.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern software engineering practices.
