Job Description

Middle School ELA Curriculum Implementation Team

Purpose:
The Middle School ELA department meetings serve as a collaborative space for teachers to strengthen curriculum alignment refine instructional practices and ensure consistency in pacing writing instruction and standards-based teaching across grades 68.

Working Time/Modality: Up to 20 Hours between October 2025 and June 2026 which will include attendance at in-person sessions that will be held on the first Monday of each month (13.5 hours) and asynchronous work (6.5 hours). After school sessions will run from 3:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. and will be in person at a location that is to be determined.

Qualifications:

  • Current assignment that is responsible for implementation or supporting the Grades 6-8 Amplify ELA curriculum including the following roles:
    • Grades 6-8 Classroom Teacher EL Teacher Inclusion teacher
    • Instructional Coach or ELL Coach responsible for supporting Amplify ELA Curriculum implementation in grades 6-8

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Rich and varied experience with literacy curriculum and instruction
  • Strong growth mindset and collaborative skills
  • Student-centered approach to instruction with high expectations for student achievement

Compensation: up to 20 hours or a total of $800 per person (based on the number of teachers participating). Stipend paid as one sum at the end of the council activities in June 2026..

Number of Positions: 30

Essential Duties:

  • Share and discuss effective instructional strategies and resources.
  • Share strategies for supporting students in narrative informational and argumentative writing as well as the weekly response to the text portfolio.
  • Analyze state and district ELA standards to ensure lessons and units are fully aligned.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Review pacing guides to ensure consistency across grade levels.
  • Identify areas where adjustments may be necessary to meet student needs.
  • Plan ahead for upcoming units and ensure readiness with materials and resources.
  • Engage in open discussions to share challenges and solutions.
  • Support one another in implementing best practices.
  • Document meeting outcomes and next steps for accountability and follow-through.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Greater alignment across grade levels in curriculum and instruction.
  • Consistent writing expectations and assessments.
  • Clear pacing that supports mastery of ELA standards.
  • Improved student achievement through collaborative planning.
