This position is a member of an outstanding staff and plays a vital role in providing care and support in a safe environment for up to one hundred seventy-seven (177) elder residents.

What You Will Be Doing: This position is part of the maintenance department which is responsible for keeping all heating mechanical electrical electronic and plumbing systems in the building functioning correctly and oversees maintenance of the grounds and all renovation contracts and contractors who do work on the building. Responsible for applying safety and health regulations and correcting unsafe conditions throughout the facility.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:This job is at the Anchorage Pioneer Home an assisted living home at 923 W 11th Avenue in Anchorage Alaska. It overlooks an area known as the Park Strip with views of the Chugach Mountains easily visible from most floors of the home.


Who We Are Looking For:Position-specific knowledge skills and abilities that are desired or contribute to the success in this position:

  1. Knowledge of operating and performing repairs to HVAC industrial sized boilers and critical infrastructure systems security systems fire alarm systems telephone systems key and lock repairs etc.
  2. Knowledge of carpentry plumbing electrical appliance repair grounds maintenance and landscaping.
  3. Ability to use computers software applications and automated systems to accomplish work.
  4. Ability to make sound well-informed and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action even in uncertain situations to accomplish organizational goals.
  5. Ability to work and communicate within a team environment and successfully manage multiple tasks under tight or changing deadlines.


Other Job Information:

  • This position is in support of the Pioneer Home which is a 24-hour facility.
  • This Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility where the environment includes contact with plants flowers and pets including cats dogs fish and birds.
  • Employees of the Pioneer Home receive continual screening for tuberculosis and criminal history.

Qualifications

Class Definition:

This job class is part of a series of competency-based class specifications created for career areas within the Labor Trades and Crafts Unit. The class specification identifies the levels of work and wage grades within the career area the core and specific competencies of the career area required work behaviors certifications and physical requirements. Recommended:

If available it is recommended that the applicant provide certification information within their application. At time of interview applicant must provide:

  1. Two (2) professional references (including work/supervisor-related) andthree (3) character references (personal) with current contact information.


If selected and prior to hire applicant will be asked to:

  1. Submit to fingerprinting and criminal background check screening.
  2. Provide current evidence to be free from active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) with test results dated within the last 12 months prior to start date.
  3. Provide a copy of current CPR and First Aid certificate(s) if available.
  4. Provide a copy of current drivers license.
