We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Cost Estimator to join our Product Development team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving cost efficiency in Electrical and Embedded systems supporting new program target setting and identifying opportunities for cost reduction in hardware and software development and testing. This position requires a strong understanding of vehicle E/E hardware design manufacturing processes financial analysis and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
- Develop and detailed cost estimates for including but not limited to ECUs wiring harnesses e-motors displays cabin controls lighting system HV battery and all associated parts and application parts leveraging a deep understanding of part design manufacturing cost structures and supply base capabilities.
- Conduct competitive benchmarking analyses of vehicle electrical/electronic functions architecture and components to identify design efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities and provide actionable recommendations.
- Perform cost analysis for vehicle software development by decoding the ESoW S/W functional requirements boundary diagrams and using software sizing (identifying function points) methodologies.
- Support strategic commodity initiatives cost target setting and commercial agreements with robust physicals-based cost analyses and detailed gap explanations for supplier negotiations.
- Execute financial analysis (e.g. Payback Business Case) for proposed localization and cost reduction initiatives recommending their financial viability.
- Monitor and analyze piece price cost and investment changes impacting various Engineering Change (EC) proposals for both new and running programs
- Collaborate closely with Collaborating closely with Supply Chain Product Development Material Cost and Finance to evaluate and implement cost reduction actions.
- Present key achievements and monthly reports to the leadership team.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronics Automobile Instrumentation Mechatronics or an equivalent qualification.
Experience
- 8 years of overall experience in E/E hardware design costing and/or purchasing within an Automobile OEM or Automotive Ancillaries is essential with a strong preference for experience in Electric Vehicle (EV) commodities.
Skills & Knowledge
- Proven knowledge of commodity estimation methodologies for electrical and electronic hardware such as PCBs display switches starter alternator motors etc.
- Solid understanding of electrical schematics PCB layouts ASICs connector/harness interfaces automotive networks and protocols (CAN/CAN-FD Ethernet LIN).
- Working knowledge of software architecture and standards (AUTOSAR cyber security parsedFuSA / Parsed OTA).
- Good Technical knowledge on Manufacturing Processes SMT (Surface Mounting technology) & facility & tooling investments for assembly & EOL testing procedures etc.
- Familiarity with ED&T (Engineering Design & Testing) CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) Should Cost modelling and tooling manufacturing costing is preferred.
- Proactive attitude critical thinking and strong problem-solving capabilities a collaborative mindset for cross-functional environments
- Excellent communication persuasive storytelling abilities both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Self-driven individual with a go-getter attitude requiring minimum supervision.
