SOCIAL PURPOSE
Every year MCIS invests some of its net income into initiatives that support free services for vulnerable populations training subsidies for aspiring interpreters and translators and language advocacy initiatives such as the Our Language Rights Canada Conference on Canadian Language Advocacy Day.
Our Social Purpose Statement is that we exist to uphold the human right to be informed heard and understood. Language rights protect the rights of individuals and groups to choose which language(s) they use in private as well as in public interactions such as legal health educational or political access to information and services.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development
- Contribute to the execution of annual business development plans to over-achieve objectives by:
- Writing a predetermined number of proposals.
- Winning a specific percentage.
- Successfully defending a percentage of current accounts.
- Take part in contract negotiations with the RFP Manager.
Research
- Coordinate with other MCIS teams for resources subject matter and reference information for RFPs.
- Research and prepare draft templates for bidders and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) for potential partners.
- Research past RFPs for the same or different customer for information relevant to bids.
Proposals
- Identify potential RFPs and collaboratively discuss relevance and opportunity with the RFP Manager.
- Potentially attend and participate in internal meetings and discussions.
- Assist with task lists and work back schedules in order to meet RFP deadlines.
- Assist the RFP Manager with RFP submissions:
- Write RFPs RFQs RFSO and RFIs when required for new business bids.
- Prioritize RFP requirements to meet targets.
- Prepare follow-up questions for debriefs post-award.
- Filing and following up on Freedom of Information (FoI) requests.
Systems Proposal Management System
- Maintain Proposal Management System content and review cycles.
- Utilize the Proposal Management System tool to generate new content.
- Review new features and stay up-to-date on efficiencies.
Any other duties that are assigned that are reasonably within the scope of this position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education Requirement: The Proposal Coordinator should have a general post-secondary education (university degree/college diploma) with a focus on Business Administration Communications Technical Writing Languages and/or English.
Experience & Training: The Proposal Coordinator requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience in order to effectively fulfill the functions of this position. This related experience will be in business development business administration technical writing or languages and/or English.
Given this previous experience 3-6 months of on-the-job learning is required to fully understand the business and organizational culture.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Proven ability in technical writing and English.
- Background in business administration and development is an asset.
