Do you have an interest in supervising a team who works on some of the most complex criminal cases in Maricopa County Do you want to foster and support a team environment focused on the management of capital cases from initial discovery through trial proceedings
As a Paralegal Supervisor for the Maricopa County Attorneys Office (MCAO) you will have the opportunity to put your skills to work and provide professional legal support to some of the most significant cases in our office. You will use your expertise to supervise and support a team of hardworking paralegals as they competently manage serious complex cases in a competent way. You will provide daily supervision and training of all paralegals in our department. This will involve an attention to detail and adherence to specific standards for capital casework. More specifically you will actively monitor direct and delegate caseloads to ensure guidelines for case management in capital litigation are strictly followed. You will also be responsible for managing additional responsibilities in the bureau to include billing and other office-wide administration relevant to Capital Litigation. We Require
Five years of experience as a paralegal supporting attorneys
Associates degree in paralegal studies OR an Associates degree in any field AND a certificate of completion from a Paralegal Studies program
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Valid AZ drivers license upon hire
NOTE: The Maricopa County Attorneys Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement.

Job Contributions
Perform a full range of supervisory functions including evaluations delegating directing and monitoring workload
Provide ongoing training and mentoring to paralegals in the procedures specifically outlined for the Capital Litigation Bureau
Analyze department data and compile appropriate reports and statistics for Administration
Evaluate business needs and make recommendations for process improvement and information flow
Draft of initial pleadings motions briefs memos discovery disclosure and other legal memoranda
Conduct case preparation and document management for individual cases.
Assist attorneys with trial preparation
Conduct interviews and fact-finding investigations and compile statistics and reports.
Collect review and analyze documents and records obtained through the discovery process
Responsible for carrying a caseload and performing daily paralegal functions
Attend continuing legal education seminars and in-house training
Working Conditions
Office setting in high volume fast-paced environment with frequent stressful situations. May require long periods of sitting while completing paperwork.
Ability to travel to and from various county locations utilizing personal or county owned vehicle may be required.
Ability to move up to 20 pounds
Teleworking/AWA available after six months of employment
