The Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) is facilitating outreach with individuals currently in the Hope and Recovery Center or is considering enrolling in treatment. The CRPA will utilize their personal recovery expertise professional training and lived experience to peer boost individuals enrollment and engagement in treatment and commitment to recovery. The Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) will also connect individuals to community-based recovery support consistent with treatment recovery and discharge.

- Assist in the development of recovery plans and identify strengths.
- Model coping skills and relapse prevention techniques.
- Provide non-clinical crisis support especially after periods of hospitalization or incarceration.
- Educate program participants about various modes of recovery.
- Accompany program participants to medical and mental health appointments.
- Raise awareness of existing and social and other support services.
- Link program participants to formal recovery supports.
- Assist program participants with applying for medical and financial benefits.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with alcohol and substance abuse detoxification rehabilitation and treatment centers.
- Provide motivational interviewing to clients as needed.
- Explore with program participants harm reduction techniques.
- Explore with program participants relapse prevention techniques.
- Assist in onsite drug testing for clients whose service plans incorporate it.
- Promote a smoke-free environment.
- Provide education to program participants the use of Naloxone kits.
- Assist in the orientation of new program participants.
- Maintain up-to-date accurate individual paper and electronic case records on each program participant.
- Comply with attendance and timekeeping rules and reports reliably and regularly to work on an on-going basis.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled clinical meetings staff meetings and supervision as well as in-service training and development activities.
- Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications and administer as needed.
- Immediately report serious incidents allegations of abuse incidents or sensitive situations and completes incident reports in accordance with agency policy.
- Comply and promote compliance with all applicable laws regulations and agency policies helping to strengthen and maintain an ethical organizational culture.
- Work at various locations within the (5) five boroughs.
- Conduct presentations within the substance use network.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Basic knowledge of the causes and processes of substance use disorder.
- Ability to prepare accurate and timely documentation reports and other written material as assigned.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently respond to questions from persons served.
- Ability to present information to persons served and other employees.
- Ability to work with participants families and staff in a caring and respectful manner and with due understanding of and consideration for cultural differences.
- Ability to serve as a role model to clients including modeling appropriate interpersonal interactions appearance demeanor.

- Willingness to continually learn and apply knowledge and willingness to participate in in-service training and development activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma with Certified Recovery Peer Advocate Certification. Certified Recovery Peer Advocate-Provisional will be considered.
