Job Description:
The Mammography Aide performs patient care duties for the Breast Care Center under the direction of the Imaging Supervisor. The Mammography Aide coordinates patient care for the patient and the mammography technologist. The Mammography Aide supports the goals of the department and hospital through excellent customer relation skills.
Essential Functions:
- Obtain orders for diagnostic exams and procedures in a timely manner and according to department protocol.
- Match physician order with mammography jackets for next days schedule.
- Escort patients from main waiting room to dressing area and exam room.
- Review patient history sheet with patients prior to exam being performed.
- Place patient exam information into mammography and ultrasound equipment prior to exam being performed.
- Restore digital images from PACS system.
- Assists technologist in any manner that expedites patient examination/report turnaround.
- Enter mammography findings into Radiology Information System; ensuring appropriate patient letters are generated.
- Answer phone using appropriate customer relations.
- Accurately routes calls to appropriate locations.
- Performs clerical duties on Mobile Mammography Unit as required.
- Attends and participates in department staff meetings.
- Assist with front office duties as needed.
- Ensures work area is kept clean neat and orderly and stocked with supplies.
- Takes an active role in gaining or maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology equipment and information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities.
- Maintains an ethical and professional relationship with ULH customers.
- Use exemplary customer relation skills to project a positive image of the hospital and department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description:
Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
- High School graduate or equivalent
- BLS
Experience:
- One year in a hospital and previous clerical experience (preferred)
- Medical terminology desired (preferred)
