The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Preceptor works in a team based computerized environment and is responsible for instructing Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) students during their rotation through the clinic or hospital creates a positive and inclusive learning environment demonstrates expertise and leadership in DMS and performs technical and diagnostic procedures as required. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions forms and reports; preparing and monitoring supplies and equipment; patient monitoring; and operating ultrasound equipment including preparing and presenting patient data to reporting physician.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Training And Experience

  • Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma program.
  • Sonography Canada and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification credentials as a Generalist Sonographer and three (3) years recent related experience in a health care setting or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level (CCHW Site Only).
  • Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada.

  • Ability to teach students and others both one-on-one and in groups.
