Basic Function:
Promote the continuous improvement function within Quality Systems. Provide expertise support and perform quality audits within the BorgWarner Transmission Systems -Bellwood facility.
Dimensions:
AIAG: SPC MSA FMEA PPAP and APQP are essential. Computer Skills and Microsoft Office are a must. ISOTS 16949 quality management system desired but QS-9000 or ISO 9000 will suffice.
Nature and Scope:
BorgWarner Transmission Products LLC manufactures friction elements one-way clutches and other transmission systems for automobiles industrial equipment and aircraft in a world market.
The position will report to the Quality Manager who reports to the Plant Manager.
The Sr. Quality Engineer focuses on quality continuous improvement and the auditing system to ensure compliance to policies and procedures which have a direct impact upon on-time delivery and product quality. To do this the incumbent is involved in recruiting and training activities to locate and secure top-notch engineers and technicians that perform a variety of auditing activities. Working with manufacturing the Quality Systems team develops trains and audits production processes according to BW policies and practices. The position holder coordinates internal and external manufacturing audits regularly.
Using their expertise the incumbent utilizes engineering skills to help the organization in its efforts to reduce process variation and customer order to perform these functions candidates should possess a Bachelors of Science in a technical field or equivalent time in the quality field. Emphasis is placed on leadership ability and working directly with all levels of management. Oral written and strong people skills are required. Familiarity with quality systems such as TS16949 auditing supervision of layout and PPAP function and other continuous improvement projects i.e. statistical process control is mandatory.
Accountabilities:
Coordinate perform and report on external TS16949 3rd party internal system and internal manufacturing audits to ensure compliance with customer quality requirements. Supervise the layout and PPAP function within the Metrology lab in order to support the organizations metrology needs. Perform continuous improvement projects aimed at quality system improvement and variation reduction. Direct and manage the Early Product Containment activity. Performs special projects as directed by the Manager Quality.
Degree Requirements: Bachelors Degree.
Other Qualifications: ASQ Membership SPC expertise and Six Sigma exposure a plus. Suggested minimum 8-10 years of related work experience
