NDDOT Hiring Salary:
Transportation Engineer II: $5999 / month
Transportation Engineer I: $5403 / month
Job Duties:
As a Transportation Engineer for Grand Forks District Administer highway and bridge construction projects and supervise construction activities complete environmental checklists and designs review documentation on active District construction projects to assure compliance and to maintain inventory programs that are managed at the District level.
Design Projects
Gather information necessary for developing a set of highway construction plans. This includes survey understanding NDDOT Design Manual for what is required for a specific design etc.
Update milestones in RIMS.
Prepare plan sheets for District construction highway projects that will be put out for bid.
Prepare cost estimates.
Maintain project files.
Complete projects on schedule for those designs that are assigned.
Review PS&E plans for all district projects.
Other duties as assigned.
Project Inspection
Inspection and documentation of contractors for all types of operations.
Monitor quantities and make adjustments to keep project on budget.
Contract Administration and Project Management for Construction Projects:
Monitor contractor operations to assure project is built according to the plans and specs.
Monitor project paperwork such as labor compliance environmental commitments EEO requirements etc. to assure Contractor compliance.
Supervise and direct employees performing materials sampling and testing on the project.
Supervise and direct employees performing construction surveying on the project.
Supervise and direct employees performing contractor inspection.
Reviews documents and participates with certain tasks to ensure that all federal aid projects comply with the rules and regulations of the USDOT and FHWA as they pertain to the federal-aid program.
Tasks include:
Conduct preconstruction meetings for all assigned projects
Conduct bulletin board inspections for all assigned projects
Conduct labor compliance interviews for all assigned projects
Review and audit payrolls on LCP Tracker for accuracy and compliance for all assigned projects
Complete and submit all necessary documentation as it relates to the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) programs.
Complete final records for all assigned projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Transportation Engineer II:
Bachelors degree in civil engineering construction or construction management and
Two years of professional-level engineering work experience and
Eligibility to write the Fundamentals of Engineering exam as specified by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Requires a class D drivers license for travel.
Transportation Engineer I:
Bachelors degree in civil engineering construction or construction management and
Eligibility to write the Fundamentals of Engineering exam as specified by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Requires a class D drivers license for travel.
Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and reference check.
