Job Summary

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered100% (40 hours a week) Staff Nurseto work at ourUICC Obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) Cedar Rapids.This position will mainly support our Cedar Rapids OBGYN Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Specialty/Outreach Family Medicine and/or Pediatrics

Duties to include:

  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment diagnosis treatment and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition age and psychological educational and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department division and/or unit policies procedures and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.
  • Drivers License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Percent of Time:100% (40 hours per week)

Schedule:Variable hours Monday through Friday between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM with 8-hour shifts.. Standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM 5:00 PM. No weekends on call time or holidays required.

Location:Cedar Rapids IA(or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)

Pay Grade: 52 - $57587 - $105636 (based on years of experience)

Education

  • An Associates Degree in Nursing a Diploma in Nursing a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP) MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Masters Degree in Nursing (MSN MA) is required

Required Qualifications

  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
  • General computer skills are required.
  • Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association
  • Drivers License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Special Qualifications:

  • Drivers License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role.
  • Minimum 6 months 1 year of OBGYN experience
  • Previous EPIC experience
  • Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
  • Previous experience successfully working autonomously.

Desirable Qualifications

  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
  • OBGYN knowledge/ understanding of policies procedures.
  • Previous ambulatory experience
