Job Summary: The Literacy Interventionist Lead Specialist will serve as a key leader in the development and implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 structured literacy interventions across elementary school buildings. The primary focus will be on collaborating with the PreK-12 Literacy Coordinator in leading and supporting a team of literacy interventionists ensuring the effective implementation of evidence-based interventions aligned with core instruction and collaborating with school administrators and leadership teams within a MTSS framework.

Qualifications:

Current Minnesota teaching license (elementary special education reading or English Language Development)
Minimum of 5 years of successful elementary teaching experience
Masters degree in education literacy or a related field
Experience in a leadership supervisory or coaching role.
Experience in planning facilitating and leading professional development
Demonstrated success in coaching and mentoring teachers
Cognitive coaching training or equivalent (preferred)
Training or certification in structured literacy (preferred)
Extensive experience in structured literacy instruction/intervention (preferred)
Strong understanding of literacy assessment tools and data analysis
Knowledge of current trends and research in literacy instruction.
Strong knowledge of Minnesota English-Language Arts Standards
Understanding of the districts learning and technology framework and use of Seesaw / Schoology within a 1:1 environment
Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching
Understanding of systems and organizational change and experience in leading change
Ability to collaborate with others in establishing a vision and ability to continually align efforts
Ability to move back and forth between vision and detail work seamlessly
Ability to meet timelines provide direction to work teams and to delegate appropriately

Responsibilities:

Leadership Supervision and Coordination

Provide leadership guidance and support to a team of interventionists; ensuring implementation of evidence-based intervention
Conduct regular check-ins and observations and provide feedback to support interventionists in their professional growth and effectiveness.

Present information to elementary administrators and other stakeholders
Assists District Literacy Coordinator with recruiting screening hiring training assigning and evaluating of personnel
Assists District Literacy Coordinator in the formulation of designated budget(s)
Plan hire and supervise summer programming
Facilitates related projects processes and committees

Professional Development Coordination and Planning:

Collaborate with the District Literacy Coordinator to design and implement professional development opportunities for the interventionist team and classroom teachers
Coordinate with external experts and organizations as needed
Collaborates with Teaching and Learning Department colleagues to plan and provide aligned professional development
Assist in the selection procurement and distribution of instructional materials and resources to support structured literacy interventions
Facilitate training sessions for interventionists
Stay abreast of current research and best practices to inform ongoing professional development initiatives

Data-Driven Decision-Making:

Analyze district literacy assessment data using findings to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement in core instruction.
Work closely with interventionists to analyze school-level data and progress monitoring data; identifying trends areas for improvement and intervention needs.

Collaboration with District Leadership:

Collaborate with the district literacy coordinator special education and other colleagues to ensure alignment between core curriculum interventions and structured literacy initiatives.
Participate in leadership meetings to provide updates on structured literacy initiatives problem-solve challenges and contribute to district-wide planning.
Collaborates with colleagues within the Teaching and Learning Department in long and short term visioning and planning
Work collaboratively with school administrators teachers and other specialists to align intervention efforts with school-wide literacy goals

Coaching Mentoring Modeling and Problem-Solving:

Provide ongoing on-site coaching and mentoring to interventionists supporting the implementation of structured literacy intervention curricula and practices
Conduct observations provide constructive feedback and assist interventionists in refining instructional techniques to meet the diverse needs of students.
Co-teach as part of coaching when needed
Problem-solve with interventionists in making responsive instructional decisions to meet student needs.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
