Job Description:

Work Location: Aquatic Germplasm and Genetic Resources Center Baton Rouge Louisiana.

Position Description: This is a non-tenure track grant-funded position (100 % research; 0 % teaching). The successful candidate will support interdisciplinary research and community engagement efforts at the intersection of cryobiology anthropology and open science for aquatic species. This position includes key roles in repository development technology outreach and public engagement and will require a high level of enthusiasm and independence.

Conduct research on community-based strategies for developing and maintaining cryopreserved germplasm repositories of aquatic species. Lead and contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives that integrate open-source technology anthropology and cryobiology. Manage community engagement and outreach programs and teams including coordination of facility tours events and science communication. Prepare manuscripts conference presentations and workshops to disseminate program outcomes and promote repository adoption. Manage existing grants and actively engage in developing new grant proposals.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in anthropology mass communications agriculture extension or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in museum curation community outreach and public program coordination.

  • Prior involvement in the supervision of sample collection and curation activities is highly desirable.

  • Experience in STEAM education initiatives is highly desirable.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required including fluency in Spanish and French.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
