SUMMARY

Under the direction of Emergency Preparedness Manager (EPM) is responsible for documenting all emergency preparedness response plans training activities vehicle and equipment maintenance tracking of absentees from Bryan/College Station Schools preparedness trailers help with inventory of supplies and put together orders for preparedness to be submitted for ordering. Preforms a variety of clerical and other support services with an assigned division of the Brazos County Health District.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assists with plans development for the public health district response of the use of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and assists with other plans as required in preparedness;

  1. Works with various stakeholders during the planning processes to document unified emergency response plans;

  1. Supports the EPM with training for staff and the general public concerning WMD and areas of public health with regards to preparedness;

  1. Participates in local and state exercises that contain a public health emergency response component;

  1. Maintains and manages inventory of departments emergency preparedness materials supplies and equipment; verifies inventory record matches physical inventory; researches discrepancies and updates records as needed; coordinates procurement storage and distribution of materials supplies and equipment.

  1. Coordinates maintenance of vehicle ambo buses and trailers schedules calibrations of any EPR equipment; (may have to pull trailers for service or take to on scene event)

  1. Completes and submits reports and records in a timely manner; establishes and maintains files responsible for records management for the department; retains and destroys records in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations; purges documents for destruction

  1. Promotes health districts staff and public awareness of WMD and public health threats through individual contacts and public meetings and classes;

  1. Aids in preparation of the annual budget and maintains financial records for the department; monitors expenditures; prepares payment vouchers and purchase orders;

  1. Keeps the Brazos County Health District (BCHD) website updated and regularly updated with emergency preparedness information with the person assigned to the website updates;

  1. Performs clerical and administrative duties in support of the department maintains calendar of events

  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

  1. Complies with policies and procedures delineated in the current Employee Handbook and Personnel Policies of Brazos County Texas and department supplements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a non-supervisory position.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School graduation or its equivalent plus one year of clerical experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

KNOWLEDGE OF

Basic public health knowledge personnel policies and procedures and standard office practices

SKILLS/ABILITY TO

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with county employees representatives of governmental agencies and the general public; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; operate standard word processing and spreadsheet software; read and interpret standard policies and procedures; and operate standard office equipment;

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and dependable vehicle.
