JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant

DEPARTMENT: Accounting / Finance

LOCATION: Houston TX

REPORTS TO: Accounting Supervisor

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

• Prepare journal entries account reconciliations and supporting schedules for monthly quarterly and annual closes.
• Perform variance analysis and provide explanations for review by the Accounting Supervisor.
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and reporting deliverables.
• Support weekly payroll processing including review of time entries preparation of payroll-related journal entries and reconciliation of payroll accounts.
• Review and code invoices assist with vendor setup and payment process and reconcile vendor accounts.
• Prepare customer invoices in accordance with contract terms and maintain billing schedules.
• Track collections and follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Prepare daily/weekly cash activity reports and bank reconciliations.
• Support cash forecast preparation by providing actual and updated data inputs.
• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
• Track and confirm balances with sister companies resolving discrepancies and coordinating settlements.
• Maintain proper documentation and support for intercompany activity to ensure audit and compliance readiness.
• Assist with budget preparation data collection and variance analysis.
• Maintain working templates and support updates to forecasts with current actuals.
• Assist in testing and documenting internal controls to support SOX compliance.
• Identify areas for efficiency and automation in day-to-day accounting processes and support implementation under Supervisor direction.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and financial analysis as needed to support business objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

• Bachelors degree in accounting finance or related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
• 35 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in construction government contracting or related industry.
• Solid understanding of GAAP; familiarity with FAR SOX and DCAA compliance highly preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems (QuickBooks Online Deltek Costpoint or similar); strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with financial and non-financial stakeholders.
