Job Summary

The Opportunity
The School of Construction is seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable casual instructor to join our team in the Glazier apprenticeship program. In this role you will be responsible for delivering both theoretical instruction and hands-on laboratory training to students preparing for careers in the Glazier trade.
We are looking for individuals with in-depth knowledge of the Glazier trade and current residential commercial & Industrial trade practices. As an instructor you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of skilled tradespeople. We value innovation and encourage our instructors to be bold inventive and bring fresh ideas to enhance the learning experience.
Note: SAIT as a post-secondary institution serves a diverse student population. Therefore instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings evenings and weekends. If selected specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.
The Role
- Prepare for classes prior to delivery
- Deliver instruction using existing curriculum resources through D2L and other educational tools employing diverse teaching strategies to enhance student learning and support personal growth
- Evaluate student progress and achievement
- Attend all SAIT training as required
- Achievement of School initiatives and Objectives
- Provide accurate and up to date reporting of student marks
- Be an active and engaged team member of the School
- Adhere to all safety legislation guidelines and safety standards as required
- Maintain and develop relationships with academic colleagues and industry partners
- Attend team meetings participate in program planning and quality improvement processes and implement recommendations
- Promote and support SAITs and Health and Public Safetys goals and mission statements
- All other duties as required for the position as determined by leadership
Qualifications & Experience
- Alberta Journeyperson Certificate or Red Seal as a Glazier
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Journeyperson in a variety of installation and service environments is desired
- Prior teaching or training experience in adult education is an asset
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Basic level of Proficiency working in Word Excel PowerPoint & Outlook
- Comfortable speaking to the public
- Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in a consultative decision-making process
- Commitment to ethical behavior
