Job Description

Job Title: Medical Technologist (Clinical Laboratory Scientist)
Specialty: Chemistry Hematology Blood Bank Microbiology Urinalysis
Site: VA White River Junction
Location: 163 Veterans Drive White River Junction VT 05009
Duration: 1 year contract

Shift Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00 AM 4:30 PM; rotating weekends (day or evening shifts as scheduled). May include holidays and overtime; no on-call duties.
License / Certifications:

  • ASCP or AMT certification (MT/MLS/CLS) (Required)
  • BLS Certification (Preferred not mandatory)

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science Medical Technology Clinical Laboratory Science or related sciences (chemistry biology microbiology immunology).
  • Completion of a clinical practice program accredited by NAACLS CAAHEP or ABHES (Required)

Minimum Qualification/ Experience:

  • 3 years of recent experience in chemistry urinalysis blood bank hematology coagulation and microbiology (Required)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and specialized testing in chemistry urinalysis hematology coagulation microbiology and blood banking.
  • Operate and maintain automated laboratory instruments (Abbott Architect Sysmex ACL Top Beckman Coulter etc.).
  • Conduct daily/weekly quality control calibrations and proficiency testing.
  • Cross-match blood perform antibody screenings and process blood products.
  • Perform microbiology procedures including plating gram stains PCR testing and Microscan setup.
  • Document evaluate and report test results; identify and resolve testing/processing issues.
  • Ensure accurate patient/sample identification and safeguard patient records.
  • Support compliance with CAP and CLSI standards while delivering patient-centered care.
