Job Summary

Commissioning Engineer

Position Summary

The Commissioning Engineer will support the planning execution and documentation of commissioning activities across a wide range of commercial construction projects. This individual will collaborate closely with project managers subcontractors design teams and building owners to verify that mechanical electrical plumbing HVAC fire protection and control systems are installed tested and performing to specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in the development of project commissioning plans schedules and documentation protocols.
Review design drawings specifications and submittals to verify compliance with commissioning requirements.
Conduct site inspections to observe system installation and identify discrepancies or potential issues.
Execute pre-functional and functional testing of building systems (HVAC electrical plumbing life-safety controls etc.).
Collaborate with contractors engineers and vendors to troubleshoot system deficiencies and verify corrective actions.
Maintain detailed commissioning logs reports and documentation for project records.
Support training sessions for building operators and maintenance personnel on proper system operation.
Provide feedback to improve energy efficiency occupant comfort and system sustainability.
Contribute to continuous improvement of commissioning processes and best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Building Science or a related discipline.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in commissioning MEP coordination or building systems engineering.
Knowledge of commercial building systems (HVAC electrical plumbing fire protection controls).
Familiarity with commissioning standards (ASHRAE LEED ACG or similar) is strongly preferred.
Strong analytical problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse project stakeholders.
Ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple project assignments.
