Job Summary

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a State Highway Traffic Safety Program Manager. This position is responsible for performing professional-level tasks that support MDTs State Highway Traffic Safety Section within the Statewide Planning & Model Operations of MDT. Responsible for supporting state and local law enforcement agencies in high crash areas that mitigate impaired driving and speeding and that increase occupant protection enforcement efforts. Provides technical and administrative guidance to law enforcement grantees throughout Montana to enhance state highway traffic safety. This position reports to the State Highway Traffic Safety Section supervisor and does not directly supervise others. This position is part of a career ladder with career advancement opportunities.

Required Education and Experience:

Planner 3 - $33.86/hr

Associates Degree in Planning Business or a related field and 2 years of related work experience.

Alternative combinations of related experience and education may be considered. Such as 4 years of related experience.

Planner 4 - $35.72

Bachelors Degree in Economics Planning Business Administration or a related field and 1 year of directly related experience.

Alternative combinations of related experience and education may be considered. Such as 5 years of related experience.

This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
