Compudopt is a national non-profit organization that aims to provide technology access and education to under-resourced youth and their communities. Compudopt is seeking high school juniors and seniors from the Technology Center of DuPage to join our team as Student Technicians for the 2025-2026 academic year at our Downers Grove Illinois warehouse. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in computer refurbishment IT asset disposition (ITAD) and device lifecycle management. Participation in this internship is contingent on the recommendation by the Technology Center of DuPage and adherence to their program standards. Under the direct supervision of Compudopts Operations Manager or designated staff the Student Technician will work approximately 2-3 hours per day two (2) days per week. The Student Technician must act with integrity be committed to achieving organizational goals take responsibility for mission achievement demonstrate accountability by starting with yes and demonstrate the ability to inspire grow and motivate others.
Major Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Shadow Compudopt Staff and gain hands-on technical skills in computer diagnostics imaging refurbishment and quality assurance.
- Assistwith hardware assessments harvesting components for resale markets and learning how devices are monetized to fund mission delivery.
- Contribute to daily warehouse operations including computer
- intake inventory tracking and preparing equipment for reuse or resale.
- Learn fundamentals of data security safe handling of devices andCompudoptsprocesses for certified data destruction.
- Develop an understanding of ITAD operations including cost structures yield considerations and resale valuation.
- Unload donated equipment and accurately enter it into the inventory database.
- Follow all Compudopt policies on safety confidentiality and technology use.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required:
- Current high school juniors or seniors enrolled at the Technology Center of DuPage.
- Demonstrated interest in technology computers or related technical fields.
- Strong attention to detail willingness to learn and ability to follow safety and data security protocols.
- Must be of outstanding character reliable and respectful in a team environment.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 10lbs several times throughout the shift.
- Access to reliable transportation to travel to the internship site.
Special Knowledge/Skills: - Basic knowledge of computers software applications and internet navigation
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Time management and reliability in meeting schedules and deadlines.
