How you get to help us do that in this role
As a Shop Assistant you will be responsible and held accountable for providing support for the shop and maintenance department.
What youll do
- Routine Maintenance and cleaning: Keep shop equipment and general work areas clean tidy and organized. Including washing and detailing of work equipment.
- Assist with keeping company grounds in order and tidy. Including seasonal work such as mowing landscaping and snow removal.
- Material & Equipment Handling: Load and unload supplies and assist with equipment setup and breakdown as needed.
- Supporting mechanics and/or other experienced workers by retrieving parts tools and helping with general repairs.
- Ensures a safe organized and tidy workspace always.
- Must be respectful professional and able to work as a team alongside other technicians and supervisors.
- Administrative Tasks: May include tasks like making supply runs answering phones or handling basic paperwork.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must be able to have a flexible work schedule with flexible hours hours will vary but at a minimum 40 hours a week will be required.
- Must maintain a good attitude and demeanor.
- Must be able to perform tasks which may include heavy physical labor such as lifting and carrying heavy objects.
- Ability to stand sit walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to pay attention to details and directions. Essential for tasks like cleaning and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work proactively and constructively with peers and associates within the company and industry wide.
- Must have the willingness to learn and perform carious tasks as needed.
- Balance -While many heavy civil contractors work their teams 70-80 hours per week we average 40-50 hours per week and very rarely work weekends.
