Job Summary

STUDENT MONITOR - ST. JOHNS COLLEGE BRANTFORD

Effective: Immediately to June 26 2026

2 Hours per day (11:30 am to 1:30 pm); 10 Hours per week

Pay Rate: $17.78 per hour plus 4 % vacation pay


Under the direction of the Principal/Vice-Principal or designate the student monitor will monitor supervise and ensure the safety and security of students during the indoor/outdoor lunch/recess period. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with children of various ages. They must possess patience flexibility good communication and conflict resolution skills and the ability to remain calm and handle emergency situations.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be aware of school rules and emergency plans;
  • Be prompt in arriving for supervision assignment;
  • Supervising students during lunch hour;
  • Be aware of specific students medical/behaviour situations and keep such information confidential;
  • Ensure the safety of all children occurs at all times both indoors and outdoors;
  • Respond to any incidents and report any serious infractions to the school Principal/Vice Principal;
  • Ensure students who are ill or injured are referred to the appropriate medical attention
  • Report any serious accidents immediately;
  • Co-operate with the Principal Vice-Principal and teachers to maintain consistent disciplinary practices;
  • Follow school processes and procedures.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent;
  • Prior experience working with children;
  • Prior voluntary experience in a school setting is an asset;
  • Team player and the ability to work closely with students and staff;
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
