The Development Officer I is part of a dynamic team that is responsiblefor developing permitting and compliance processes within Strathcona County. This work involves receiving investigating and issuing decisions on development files in accordance with the Land Use Bylaw and managing development permit and compliance files throughout their lifecycle.
In addition the Development Officer I is required to prepare statements respecting land use compliance and ensures that development projects are carried out in accordance with conditions of approval including regulations in the Land Use Bylaw and other statutory documents such as the Municipal Government Act (MGA).
This position provides interpretation and guidance on the Land Use Bylaw (LUB) regulations to property owners developers contractors businesses county departments and the general public. The role also offers information on application requirements and compliance processes while supporting land development planning inquiries applications and related processes.

Post Secondary degree in Planning or a related discipline with 1-3 years relevant experience in a planning land development or land use compliance role or a diploma with 3-5 years of related experiences
Experience in both urban and rural planning environment is preferred
