OVERVIEW

CR is both an independent non-profit (under Section 501(c) (3) and a social enterprise. The revenue we generate through membership donations and other programs helps support our mission to advocate for truth transparency and fairness in the marketplace.

Associate Director Accounting is a leadership position with a focus on the technology used for managing complex accounting areas including revenue recognition deferrals allocations monthly close and balance sheet analysis. The AD Accounting also ensures compliance with GAAP and nonprofit reporting this position you will report directly to the Controller and partner closely with the Manager of Financial Systems to optimize the use of Oracle and other accounting systems.

This is a hybrid position based in Yonkers New York. The successful applicant should expect to be in office 1-2x per week. This position is not eligible for sponsorship or relocation assistance.

How Youll Make An Impact:

Our Accounting and Finance team helps to ensure CRs financial health and stability so the organization can practice effective nonprofit decision making. On a daily basis you may:

  • Drive revenue recognition deferred revenue and business unit expense accounting processes.
  • Work closely with FP&A and business teams to establish efficient processes for finalizing results and incorporating them into the monthly financial statements.
  • Effectively manage supervise develop and evaluate staff in a union environment.
  • Lead the monthly financial statement close process and balance sheet review with a focus on building efficiencies and optimizing recurring processes.
  • Manage departmental accounting initiatives and special projects including workflow and process improvements.
  • Serve as a key contributor to the annual financial statement audit collaborating with auditors and internal staff to provide timely accurate responses.
  • Monitor accounting developments draft technical memos and update accounting policies and procedures as needed. Develop new policies and maintain existing ones to ensure compliance and consistency.

ABOUT YOU

Youll Be Highly Rated If:

  • You have the education.. A BA/BS in Accounting is required.
  • You have the experience. You have 6 or more years of experience in auditing accounting operations or financial reporting.
  • You know accounting principles. You have a thorough understanding of GAAP accounting and financial reporting.

Youll Be Our Top Pick If:

  • Youve gone the extra mile. You have CPA certification.
  • Youve worked for a corporate entity before and have auditing and public accounting firm experience.
  • Youve supervised others. You have experience supervising a team preferably in a Union environment.

FAIR PAY AND A JUST WORKPLACE

At Consumer Reports we are committed to fair transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive market-informed compensation informed by location as well as the candidates particular combination of knowledge skills competencies and experience. It is expected that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of the posted salary range. We have three locations: Yonkers NY Washington DC and Colchester CT.

At Consumer Reports we are committed to fair transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive market-informed target salary range for this position is $180K-$195K. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidates particular combination of knowledge skills competencies and experience.
