Job Responsibilities
- Supervise/coordinate daily operations/functions of the training department at the training site.
- Instruct mandatory elective special training sources.
- Research and develop/update lesson plans training aids manuals tests and evaluation instruments to comply with agency policy ACA standards and state federal/federal law.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date filing tracking system for employee training records.
- Providing remedial instruction and testing for uniform and non-uniform staff who have failed a course of instructions.
- Monitor employee CLEE Certification cycle submit employees CLEE extensions and exceptions and notify institutional management team of employees training status.
- Assist new hires with on-boarding institutional orientation and agency orientation.
- Develop institutions annual training plan.
- Assist the institution as needed.
- Assist the training academy staff regularly with range on-the-job (OJT) scenario and other specialized classes.
- Serve as ex-officio member of the institutions training advisory council (ITAC).
- Assist with the retention program.
Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelors degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
- Three (3) years of experience in correctional security military or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above 1 year).
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
