Job Description

A leading manufacturing company is seeking a talented and driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques must have a understanding of metal fabrication designing of retractable covers Domes tarps A team leader someone that can lead manage a team and setup a facility plant.

Our custom engineers and designs specialty retractable covering systems for over the road truck & trailer equipment in both semi and non-semi markets. It offers Over-Dimensional Super Transporter system designs for emerging markets demanding larger load covering on specialty permitted equipment.

Our client in early development with known knowledge of existing design & engineering with the introduction to the industrial outside storage markets with retractable buildings.

This is a Key Role Position reporting directly to the CFO & Owner which will lead the custom design engineering metal & industrial fabric manufacturing installation and service departments.

Must have accomplished management skills & experience in leading all departments excluding finance sales & marketing.

Responsible to oversee lead and ensure accuracy for all creative engineering designs for all tarp system frame structures their components & industrial fabricated vinyl covers.

Responsible for overseeing the sourcing & selection of all materials relating to the custom design & fabrication of metal and fabric components.

Responsible for leading all Procurement of all materials requirement & services.

Responsible for organizing and controlling all product costing of all related BOM & labor estimates in both excel & Visual Manufacturing software.

Responsible for re-organizing of plant layout and work cell stations as required to maximize overall manufacturing efficiencies leading to lower bottom line cost.

Responsible to redefine Plant Management role as it relates to and how it integrates with the new Directors position in the following areas:

Management of Production & Scheduling.

Management of Staffing.

Policy & Procedure Compliance

Skills Development

Cross Training

Management of Inventory Shipping & Receiving

Management of QCI -Quality Control Inspection & Dimensional Compliance

Management of Job Time Costing & Labour Reporting to Financial GMAs.

Management of accountability for outcomes and timelines for order completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain efficient manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Streamline manufacturing operations.
  • Liaise with vendors to resolve issues.
  • Manage the team and ensure accountability for outcomes and timelines for completion.
  • Ensure efficiency of all labor and meeting on hour standards for tasks.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the design and development of new products and processes.
  • Manage and support the implementation of new equipment and technology to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with quality control engineering and other departments to ensure that products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Conduct cost analysis and make recommendations for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports presentations and documentation to communicate findings and progress.
  • Inventory Management.
  • Must be capable of conducting complex engineering calculations combined with simple math equations and creating formulas for production.
  • Mentor and train junior team members to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Multi-Site Responsibility.
  • New design input for custom orders and new product development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen.
  • Must be able to travel to the USA 2-3 weeks at a time therefor must have a Valid Canadian Passport and ability to travel
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be experienced in shop floor production optimization techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools.
  • Must be able to undertake a manufacturing startup including layout equipment needs power requirements and processes.
  • Must be experienced in managing and analyzing labour hours to complete tasks find and implement corrective actions.
