Description

Position Summary:
The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and supporting kitchen operations to ensure meals are produced efficiently accurately and safely. This role involves following recipes maintaining food safety standards and assisting chefs and cooks in delivering high-quality menu items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash peel cut and prepare vegetables fruits meats and other ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards.
  • Prepare season and cook menu items according to recipes and production schedules.
  • Measure weigh and portion food items for cooking or storage.
  • Maintain a clean organized and sanitized work area at all times.
  • Properly store food items using correct labeling dating and rotation (FIFO method).
  • Assist in receiving inspecting and properly storing food and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or needs to supervisor.
  • Assist chefs and line cooks with daily prep lists and special tasks as needed.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely (slicers mixers ovens etc.).
  • Follow all food safety sanitation and workplace safety procedures.
  • Assist in receiving inspecting and properly storing food and supplies
  • Dispose of waste properly and support dishwashing/cleaning as needed.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of previous kitchen or food service experience preferred; training provided.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety standards.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred or ability to obtain with 6 months
  • Ability to follow directions recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule availability including evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
