Job Summary:
A well-regarded healthcare organization in Southern California is seeking an Infection Prevention Specialist to support and enhance its infection control initiatives. This role involves analyzing infection data supporting surveillance and investigation activities and contributing to the design and implementation of infection prevention education and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infection control programs.
- Provide education and guidance to staff on infection control procedures and new clinical equipment.
- Assist in the design and implementation of surveillance strategies for monitoring infections outbreaks and exposure events.
- Analyze data to identify trends and improvement opportunities in infection prevention practices.
- Monitor changes to local state and federal infection control regulations.
- Maintain infection control dashboards and generate routine reports.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and quality committees.
- Conduct site assessments related to infection prevention standards and practices.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience in infection prevention quality management or a closely related healthcare field.
- Infection Control Certification (must be obtained within 24 months of hire).
- Educational background must meet ONE of the following criteria:
- Masters degree in Nursing Public Health Epidemiology or Microbiology with 2 years of healthcare experience (including 1 year in a relevant clinical area) -OR-
- Bachelors degree in a related field with 4 years of healthcare experience (including 3 years in a relevant clinical area) -OR-
- Registered Nurse (RN) without a degree with 6 years of healthcare experience (including 5 years in a relevant clinical area) -OR-
- 7 years of directly related healthcare experience.
