Job Summary
Position Summary:
The basic function of the Machine Operator is to set up and operate conventional special purpose and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyze work orders work pieces and blueprints to determine process materials equipment and sequence of operations required to machine parts.
Select align and secure holding fixtures cutting tools attachments accessories and materials on machines such as mills lathes grinders and saws.
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed feed coolant flow depth and angle of cut or enter commands to retrieve input or edit computerized machine control media.
Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions adjust machine controls as required and verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications and blueprints by use of appropriate measuring devices.
Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Confer with engineers production personnel programmers and others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Thoroughly deburr parts.
Read write and speak English fluently.
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral or schedule form.
Read and interpret documents such as blueprints specifications safety rules operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Calculate figures and formulas that pertain to the work area.
Problem-solve undefined expectations.
Computer literate.
Work well in a team environment demonstrate good communication skills and maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Education and/or Experience:
Two year CNC degree and/or equivalent experience.
Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands Include:
Sitting standing and walking.
Use of hands and arms to operate equipment; handle or feel objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Being able to see (20/25 vision with or without glasses) and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations.
Steel toed shoes are a requirement for this position.
Work Environment:
This person will work in a manufacturing environment which is temperature controlled. The person will be working near moving mechanical parts. This setting involves manufacturing equipment with others working in close proximity.
