Job Summary

UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO LIBRARY TE PĀTAKA MĀTAURAKA

Take the lead in shaping how the library captures preserves and shares its digital cultural and research taoka for generations to come.

We are seeking a specialist who can combine strong leadership skills with technical this role you will help lead our digitisation team in delivering high-quality digitisation of the University of Otago Librarys collections while also working hands on with our digital preservation system to ensure our taoka is protected and accessible into the future.

The Role Te Mahi

As Lead Digitisation & Digital Preservation youll manage the full digital lifecyclefrom capture to long-term preservation.

Youll shape policy standards and workflows collaborating across the Library and University to ensure our local digital collections are high-quality customer-centred sustainable accessible and future-ready.

You will also:
Lead projects that enhance digital access and preservation.
Oversee preparation metadata quality and ingestion into preservation systems.
Provide leadership for the Library Digital Capture Unit.
Partner with curators (Māori Archives Publications Art & Photography) on digitisation and preservation programmes.
Create and maintain fit-for-purpose policies standards and workflows.
Apply mātauraka Māori and kaitiakitaka to digitisation preservation and access.

Your Skills and Experience Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

To be successful in this role you will have:
Experience managing digital collections and hands-on experience with digitisation workflows preservation systems and metadata standards.
Strong technical knowledge of file formats archival data storage/backup and troubleshooting.
Proven leadership and project management capability.
Clear communication documentation and advocacy abilities across diverse stakeholders.
An understanding of mātauraka Māori in cultural heritage knowledge of te reo and tikaka Māori would be an advantage but not essential. We do expect a strong commitment to learning and engaging in these areas.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) permanent position based in Ōtepoti Dunedin.

The appointment range for this position is $80749 to $85649 per annum. Top of the range is $100776.
