Duties & Responsibilities
As a Senior Financial Accountant youll play a crucial role in managing financial reporting accounting operations and compliance for our short-term insurance business. Reporting to the Financial Manager you will ensure accurate financial statements support audits and contribute to strategic financial planning. Duties:
- Lead the preparation of financial results (monthly biannual and annual statements)
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and insurance regulations
- Manage the general ledger accounts payable/receivable and intercompany transactions
- Support internal controls and month-end reconciliations
- Handle VAT calculations and ensure tax compliance
- Liaise with external auditors and manage audit processes
- Provide training and mentorship to junior accounting staff
- Drive process improvement and system enhancement projects
- Perform detailed financial analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities
Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- BCom Accounting
- BCom Honours / CTA
- CA(SA)
Experience:
- Completed SAICA Articles
- Minimum 3 years of financial accounting experience with at least 2 years in the insurance sectorStrong knowledge of IFRS and regulatory requirements
