Location: Colorado Springs CO (United States Air Force Acacemy)

Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full Time Day Shift

Compensation: $34.06 - $34.06 /hourly

Tessera is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter to support facility maintenance and improvement efforts at USAFA. This role involves painting and finishing a wide range of surfaces and structures across the installation ensuring high-quality workmanship and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces including walls ceilings doors railings equipment and structural elements
  • Apply coatings to wood drywall plaster metal concrete masonry fiberglass plastic and glass
  • Perform taping patching texturing and wallpaper or acoustic layer application
  • Paint street and curb markings directional signage and safety indicators
  • Execute full wall and ceiling painting during change-of-occupancy maintenance; spot painting is prohibited
  • Operate clean and maintain painting equipment including brushes rollers sprayers and pumps
  • Safely store and label all materials; manage hazardous waste per local state and federal regulations
  • Read and interpret blueprints work plans and maps
  • Maintain service and repair records for tools and equipment
  • Collaborate with other trades and respond to work orders as assigned
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance communication and conduct across the installation

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional painting experience required
  • Experience working on military installations or government contracts preferred
  • Skilled in both residential and commercial painting environments
  • Proficiency in painting techniques and surface preparation
  • Knowledge of color mixing finishing methods and coating types
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and PPE usage
  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • May be required to reach kneel walk stand and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion reaching lifting kneeling and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time climbing in and out of a vehicle and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
